How to Calculate Wallpaper
We understand that calculating wallpaper can be tricky, so we have tried to make it as simple as possible by creating our quick wallpaper table below.
This table is based on a wall height between 240cm - 280cm. Please use this as a quide only for the amount of rolls needed. For more precise measurements, please see our step-by-step instructions further below, to help you calculate accurate quantities of wallpapers rolls required.
For 53cm wide wallpaper rolls:
Wall Width | 0 - 150cm | 150 - 300cm | 300 - 450cm | 450 - 600cm |
Rolls Required | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
For 68cm wide wallpaper rolls:
Wall Width | 0 - 200cm | 200 - 400cm | 400 - 600cm |
Rolls Required | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Please follow the accurate step-by-step instructions below to calculate the number of wallpaper rolls required.
For this example, we have used a wall size of W 300cm x H 250cm, using a wallpaper roll size of 53cm wide x 10m roll length x 53cm pattern repeat. Please note that all wallpaper rolls are different sizes, please adjust this formula accordingly to the measurements of your desired wallpaper.
Step 1:
Measure your wall, then add 10cm to the height and the width.
Step 2:
Divide the width of the wall by the width of the roll, then round this number up to the nearest whole number. This is the number of drops per wall.
Step 3:
Divide the wall height by the pattern repeat size, then round up to the nearest whole number, then multiply by the pattern repeat size. This will be your drop height.
Step 4:
Divide the roll length by the drop height. Round this number down to the nearest whole number. This is the number of drops per roll.
Step 5:
Divide the total drops per wall by the drops per roll, then round up to the nearest whole number. This is the number of rolls required.
6 drops per wall ÷ 3 drops per roll = 2 rolls of wallpaper is required
